Blind Date with a Book

This is a concept I adopted at book signings and it seems to have taken off! At my most recent signing in Sheffield, there was so much interest from readers and authors alike and it’s proven to be sooo popular.

You don’t know what the cover looks like, basically all you get is a few key words telling you what the brown package you’re buying generally contains. You go in blind, with no expectations, and I think this is something that really works for people with a healthy interest in the unknown who are willing to take a risk!

As I’m not doing another signing in a while now, I’ve decided to sell my BDWAB’s on a more regular basis – so if there’s anything below you fancy, send me an email smlpublishinguk@gmail.com and I can invoice through PayPal.

Thanks to everyone who came to my table in Sheffield and chatted, bought books or generally enquired what it is that I actually write about. This is, in a way, why I started the Blind Dates – because I write so many different books, these little packages help people see without me going on and on about plots, while trying not to give away numerous spoilers, and/or generally tell you the whole thing before you’ve even dived in! It really is getting hard to define what genre I’m most known for – I guess proper stories with steamy scenes covers a lot of bases but not all.

So, here’s what you can choose from. As I said, mail me, message me on FB or Instagram and we can arrange payment, then I will mail out one or more of these beauties to you (prices not inclusive of P&P).

Happy browsing!

BLURB

In the second and final Collective novel, Nate’s navigating a terrifying new world… all without Beatrice this time.

It’s been almost two years since Nate attempted to unveil Panacea to the world, but the hacker’s efforts to bring the truth to the fore seem to have been crushed.

Beatrice is gone from his life, that much is clear. But where? How? Is she ever coming back?

A lone wolf, he’s on the hunt again, seeking answers… a route inside. Something.

An old friend of his, Sadie is a geneticist who might be able to facilitate access to Panacea. She could give him all he needs, if only he could convince her to help him.

The question is, what will it take to convince Sadie? Just what lengths must he go to in order to get inside the Collective’s uber-secretive island complex?

All Nate knows is that he will do what he can, or die trying.

Without Beatrice by his side though, he’s a different person entirely.

Be prepared for a rollicking ride of psychological warfare, dark deeds, underhanded tactics… and one devastating truth you might never see coming.

Through Lynch’s words, embark on a journey of lost innocence, reality bites and how old-fashioned sentiment doesn’t seem to translate – not anymore.

This poetry collection features the disappointments we can all share in, including opening your heart only to be shot down, trying and failing, encounters of bigotry and misogyny – not to mention navigating a world in which everyone is hurting in their own way.

Pervading this work is the sense that people will always be people, but perhaps punctures are actually what force us to decompress.

Elements, a New Poetry Collection

Blurb:

The contributors were asked to write a poem based on the book cover image. Unsurprisingly, many of the poems featured are dominated by the elements. The writers touch upon various subjects, however and readers are sure to discover a flavour they will enjoy. All proceeds of this collection will be shared between homeless charities both in the UK and US, reflecting the international collaboration behind this project.

The authors featured comprise: Sharena Lee Satti, Paula Acton, Audrina Lane, Eleanor Lloyd-Jones, Anna-Maria Athanasiou, Sarah Michelle Lynch, A. Stone, Andy Lynch, Stevie Turner, Lisa Fulham, O.Y. Flemming, Mark Heathcote, Alison Clarke, Victoria Kenna, T.F. Webb, Louise White and Mandy Gibson.

I am excited to announce this new poetry collection featuring 17 different authors. Proceeds of this project will be split between two charities: Hull Homeless (UK-based) and VOA (US-based, homeless). Please check out our book! Buy links below….

One Week Left!!

There’s just one week left to submit your poetry for my upcoming charity anthology. A lot of the details are still TBC, but here’s an outline of what I’m looking for if you missed my announcement…

— I will provide an image to work from; this image will also provide the basis for the book cover.

— Your poem can be as long or as short as you like; on any theme you like, with any language or as far out as you can possibly imagine. I only ask that your poem reflects the mood/tone of the image in some way shape or form.

— Deadline to submit poems is January 31st – please, please let me know in good time if you want to submit but think you may miss this deadline.

— Title of this project TBC.
— Release date TBC (HOPEFULLY FEB SOMETIME).

— This book will be released in ebook first, for Kindles. (paperbacks shortly after; the formatting can sometimes be tricky with poetry books)

— There are a few charities I support, so depending on the profits made, I may split them between a couple (or three, you never know!).

— PLEASE submit your poem in a Word document. I receive no end of submissions that have been pasted into an email and the formatting is a nightmare. WORD DOCUMENT PLEASE! 😉

— Your poetry must be proofread

To find out more information, please add yourself to our private gathering place over on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2201342126788394/

Similarly, you can email me for more details if you don’t use Facebook (I envy you!)

Really excited and wait till you read what I’ve received so far.

Love, S x

Review Opportunities and Our Poetry Project

There’s still time to join my latest charity project – a poetry anthology. Please join me over on Facebook to learn more, or you can email me for all the details. I am looking for poems, but there’s no minimum or maximum word count, you just have to write something inspired by our cover art! I’ve had some great contributions so far . . . and there’s more to come! Submissions are open until January 31st – please let me know if you have something but it’s going to be late.

I’m galvanising my social networks this year, after a very busy writing year in 2018. This includes opening up review opportunities. If you’d like to read one of my books for free in exchange for an honest review, just fill out this form. I also have a reader group on Facebook where you can gather to discuss what you’ve read in a closed environment!

Similarly, if you’ve read and enjoyed one of my books lately and just haven’t got around to reviewing yet, why not pop some stars and a line or two of review on Amazon or Goodreads? If possible, tag me so that I know you’ve reviewed!

I’m currently working on a few NEW things, but predominantly I plan to release at least one thriller and my first poetry book this year!

EXCERPT from GUILT, my latest novel featuring friends old and new . . .

Liza’s best friend, Hetty is back in this latest novel set in the world of Angel Avenue . . .

When I feel brave enough, I glance at her and she’s just staring at the ground, her lips pursed.

“Say something then.”

“Can’t. You told me not to react. I really thought it’d be the sock thing, but now you’ve told me, I understand why I’m not allowed to react. You may continue, by the way. Tell me everything.”

“You’re fucking impossible, you know that right?”

“That’s why I’m your mate, because you’re Mrs Possible. We balance one another out.”

I throw my head back, slapping my own face. “Woman.”

“I’m not reacting, remember? You’re talking.”

I take a deep breath. “I’ve known him a long time.”

“Okay.”

“He wants me to leave Gage.”

“And how long has this affair been going on?”

“Which part of it? The friendship part, or the actual fucking part?”

“The AF part.”

“I spent the night with him on Saturday. It was our first time.”

“Wow, you must be really cut up about it all to be telling me so soon.”

“I am.”

We find a bench and sit down. I check on Rupert who is still sound asleep. Hetty keeps rocking Elizabeth back and forth in her pram because she’s more likely to wake up wanting a feed.

“What was it like?” she asks. “The sex?”

I bite my lip and cover my mouth. Just the thought of it all is enough to make me blush.

“Wow, like that, eh?”

“He’s absolutely gorgeous, Het. Inside and out.”

“And he’s… you know?”

“What? Good in bed?”

“Yeah,” she says.

“He’s extremely good in bed. He makes me feel so good about myself.”

She inhales the cool, early spring air and exhales it even more dramatically. “Give it time, I say. A bit of time.”

“What do you mean?”

“If it’s meant to be, it’ll be Liz. However, if he’s one of those arty-farty types like most of your friends are, you could be just a passing whimsy to him and you know it.”

I look down at my lap. “It crossed my mind.”

“At the same time, perhaps you should seriously think about splitting from Gage if he’s not making you happy. You don’t have to leave one bloke for another, you know? You can leave Gage just because you want to, not because someone else has come a-knocking.”

“I agree. You’ve got a good point.”

“Has he got a big cock?” she asks, blurting it out. Thank god nobody is within earshot.

“HETTY!”

“I’ve been relatively well-behaved, but you can’t expect me to be good all the frickin’ time.”

I laugh and try to brush her off, but she’s waiting with bated breath.

“Yes, he has a big cock…”

She sits there wriggling her eyebrows up and down, then she folds her arms. When Elizabeth lets out a tiny grumble, Hetty has to start rocking her back and forth again. I’m glad Hetty’s at the mercy of someone else for once, it’s about bloody time. Mind you, motherhood suits her. She’s still Het, but she does seem a lot more content with herself.

“Well…” she says, sounding proud as punch that she’s not only embarrassed me today, but also made me say the word cock, too. “Joe tried it on recently, but I’m still not ready, down there. I’ve got to get my rocks off somehow, haven’t I? Can’t you tell me more about Lover Boy?”

“Hetty, you’re so bad. Shut up, will you? I’m telling you nothing. I’m protecting him.”

“Come on, just a little bit. Come on.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“As if you’ve only just discovered that.”

We snigger like piglets on our bench.

BLURB:

A highly thought-provoking tale of love, lust and deception . . .

Liza is married with two young children and seemingly has it all: a big house, a husband who provides, a great circle of friends, plus a job working for her best friend. The only problem is, it’s all built on lies.

A death in the family finally forces her to see the truth for herself, but the timing seems a little too convenient. It’s not escaped the notice of not only Liza, but also that of family friend Warrick, a former detective who has his own suspicions.

As the truth unravels, friendships are tested and Liza finds herself trapped beneath the weight of guilt. Life has thrown everything it’s got at her, and for such a young woman, it feels like a huge cross to bear.

Nothing will ever be the same again, but while the future promises the kind of happiness she only ever dreamt of before, it’s difficult to shake off the feeling that her escape from deceit came with a hidden cost . . .

AUTHOR NOTE: Liza was a minor character in the Angel Avenue series. No previous reading is required to be able to enjoy this standalone, although I highly recommend you read the other books too.

SUBMISSIONS OPEN: NEW CHARITY POETRY ANTHOLOGY

This will be the fourth charity book I’ve organised and I’m excited to see what people have got for me this time! If you are interested in submitting poetry for this new project, here is what you need to know:

  • I’ll be providing authors with an image to work from; this image will also provide the basis for the book cover.
  • Your poem can be as long or as short as you like; on any theme you like, with any language or as far out as you can possibly imagine. I only ask that your poem reflects the mood/tone of the image in some way shape or form.
  • If you are interested in participating, please ask to join my new FB group dedicated to this project: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2201342126788394/ – if you later decide the project isn’t for you, I won’t be offended.
  • In the aforementioned group, I will be providing a copy of the cover image asap so you can get to work. If you’d like me to email it instead, please let me know: smlpublishinguk@gmail.com
  • Deadline to submit poems is January 31st – please, please let me know in good time if you want to submit but think you may miss this deadline.
  • Title of this project TBC.
  • Release date TBC.
  • This book will be released in ebook first, for Kindles. (paperbacks at a later date)
  • There are a few charities I support, so depending on the profits made, I may split them between a couple (or three, you never know!).
  • YOU MUST submit your poem in a Word document. I receive no end of submissions that have been pasted into an email and the formatting is a nightmare. WORD DOCUMENT PLEASE!
  • Your poetry must be proofread – I simply don’t have time to edit everyone’s poetry.
  • SUBMITTING your work does not guarantee being included in the anthology. I’m not a harsh critic, but I do expect people to put their hearts into what they send me.

If I seem rather demanding, it’s because I am an exceptionally busy lady! LOLs…. (please note: I not only do this to raise money for charity, but also to showcase authors, too).

If you have any questions at all, ping me an email or a message to my FB page.

Thanks, and happy writing…

Sarah x
